ABOUT Closed Perfusion Cell Culture System
The Closed Culture / The Perfusion Culture

The Closed Culture

This is the culture method without opening or closing the completely sealed container, reservoir and tubing. This method can maintain the contamination-free and not affect gas condition from outside of the system.
This advantage makes easy to control the environment of medium by using an automated system.

The Perfusion Culture

This is the automated cell culture method that generates continuously flow fresh culture medium into the container and remove old medium.
This method can maintain the condition of medium
(e.g. pH, concentration of the substance) and mimic in vitro condition and also can reduce labor and costs.

Closed × Perfusion

Closed Perfusion Cell Culture System
The combination of the two culture methods has the potential to solve many of the challenges in cell culture. A completely sealed container module for culture presents several advantages: it can lower the culture environment grade, leading to substantial cuts in equipment investment and operational expenses, diminishes human labor and associated costs, mitigates contamination risks, standardizes processes by eliminating manual labor, and enables a cost-effective shift toward small-scale automation. iP-TEC🄬 is actively advancing the development and commercialization of “closed system perfusion culture” container modules, leveraging our container design and perfusion technology expertise.
Application Example
Whole blood separated using the iP-TEC® closed blood separation device (under development) was introduced with Dr.Yamanaka factors (Oct4, Sox2, Klf4, c-Myc) via Sendai virus vectors and cultured for 14 days using a pocket perfusion pump kit (batch exchange model) and a closed culture container (under development). As a result, iPS cell-specific colonies were observed, and the expression of TRA-1-60, one of the undifferentiated markers, was detected.
